Janet Houts has been a graphic artist in the print industry for the past 25 years. Previous clients include Apple Computer and West Marine Boat Products, where she designed and produced print-ready images and materials for manuals, catalogs, and magazine ads.

Her transition into the quilting world began seven years ago as the Graphic Arts Editor for Quilt Magazine. Presently, she is the Editorial Art Director for The Quilting Quarterly, a magazine published by the National Quilting Association, Inc. Her quilts have been published in numerous quilting magazines, including McCalls Quick Quilts, Quilter’s World, and Quilt Magazine. In addition to creating personal art quilts, she designs quilts for textile

companies, including Blank Textiles,

and Windham Fabrics. Her skills

include illustrating and writing

patterns for these quilts as well.

Janet and her husband Steven reside

in the Sun Valley area of Idaho,

where she receives much of her

inspiration from the beautiful

natural surroundings.
